“I’m storyteller by craft, and I’m fascinated by the art of storytelling, in whatever form it takes,” said Grammy Award-winning writer and artist Bobby Sessions. “I love that ‘Here Comes The Break’ is a narrative with such timely, relatable themes and weaves music into the story so seamlessly. Podcasts are now part of our everyday lives, and can be a great platform for listeners to discover their next favorite new artist. I’m excited to be part of it. The possibilities are endless.”

Here Comes the Break stars Emmy-nominated Asante Blackk, of When They See Us(Netflix), This is Us (NBC), and Social Distance (Netflix), who is also an executive producer on the show.  Joining him is rising star Daniella Perkins, also a producer on the show, who starred as Nickelodeon’s first multi-racial princess Ciara in Knight Squad, co-hosted Drop That Seat with Kida The Great from executive producer Nick Cannon, and was in the animated miniseries Middle School Moguls.

‘HCTB’ fuses a fictional scripted narrative with real artist interviews and exclusive music releases as it explores life and music through the mind of a young creator hustling to discovers his voice and find an audience.  Within the story, young Ruben (voiced by Blackk) anonymously launches a podcast that goes viral and becomes a must-stop interview for Def Jam’s emerging hip-hop artists.  A groundbreaking podcast about self-identity, creator culture, family, and friendships, the show aims to entertain, while raising awareness about mental health to its listeners.

Every Thursday on the iHeartPodcast Network, each of the ten new ‘HCTB’episodes will feature an interview with one of the ten Def Jam artists, and the exclusive premiere of one of their songs.  In the second of today’s two premiere episodes, for example, Neveah Joliedrops her new track “Sorry I’m High.”  A full soundtrack album will follow on Def Jam, containing music from all the artists featured in the series.

Here Comes The Break combines the intimacy of podcasting with the power of music and storytelling to create a unique forum.  Social media enhances the connection between artist and listener, the deep interaction that fans crave with their favorite artists.  The convergence between podcasting and real-time artist promotion in Here Comes The Break allows fans to know artists on that deeper level.  It provides a format for the artists to communicate who they are, what they stand for, and to be vulnerable, all within the same vehicle that introduces listeners to their new music.

"My whole life I've had a passion for acting, music, and helping people be their best selves,” said Asante Blackk. “Here Comes The Break is the perfect opportunity to blend all three, and I can't wait to share it with everybody. The show brings together music and media in a way that's new and exciting, while also sparking positive conversations around mental health and self-expression through art. Here Comes The Break tackles those crazy, sad, stagnant, and beautiful moments we all have growing up as teens and young adults. I hope you'll tune in and hop on for a wild ride."
