“Going Back to Cali” was the first single from LL Cool J’s third album Walking with a Panther. It was released in 1988 for Def Jam Recordings and was produced by Rick Rubin and LL Cool J. The song was also featured on the soundtrack to the movie Less Than Zero. The song peaked at #31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #12 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Rock band, Sevendust would cover the song on the Take a Bite Outta Rhyme: A Rock Tribute to Rap.
